SHIMA SHIMA BASIC
SHIMA SHIMA's Stripe Archives
Designed by Noriko Tsuiki
The textiles of KOKURA SHIMA SHIMA, inheriting Kokura-ori's distinctive style, are woven with high density using dyed yarns and 2 to 3 warps more than usual fabrics.
Our textiles are thick and durable, smooth and supple, with many beautiful stripes that create depth and shade.
The glossy silk-like cotton textile will get softer and fitter like leather the more you use it.
140cm wide textiles are used for fashions, interiors, and many other scenes.
SHIMA SHIMA CLASSIC
SHIMA SHIMA CLASSIC signifies beautiful gradations and perspective vertical stripes with a higher density using thinner yarns than SHIMA SHIMA BASIC.
SHIMA SHIMA EVOL
SHIMA SHIMA EVOL was released in 2019 after installing an advanced warping machine to handle progressive tailor-made orders. It made it possible to create dynamic and unlimited stripe designs without repeating the pattern of stripes using whole fabric like an extensive canvas. This textile is an ideal match for high-grade spatial design and interior good as curtains, sofas, and art panels.
SHIMA SHIMA LIV
The plain weave fabric with thicker warps and wefts is durable and thick, and suitable for interior design. LIV means 'live' in Swedish. SHIMA SHIMA LIV displays functional beauty daily, widely used for interior and fashion items such as coats and bags.
SHIMA SHIMA CASA
SHIMA SHIMA CASA has more thickness and strength using the thicker cotton yarns than SHIMA SHIMA LIV. It was developed for upholstery and wall fabric. Perspective vertical stripes unique to Kokura-ori have changed to the design blends into the space as if a plain fabric.
SHIMA SHIMA EARTH
SHIMA SHIMA EARTH is an earth-themed textile. It's a sustainable textile using durable cotton yarns used for traditional Kokura-ori for warps with high density and recyclable and recycled yarns for wefts.
PEPPER & SALT
Pepper and Salt is the twill fabric made of mottled yarns pilled with two color threads. The most notable point is the ice-like spotted patterns, and the variety of appearance is fascinating. It is usable for apparel to the interior without limits. It has a history used for boys' summer uniforms all over Japan after the Meiji era.
